Overview: Jenny’s Canyon is a short and family friendly slot canyon located within Snow Canyon State Park near St. George, Utah. Though brief in length, the canyon offers a beautiful introduction to narrow sandstone corridor hiking with smooth walls, sculpted formations, and easy accessibility.
The canyon is especially popular for casual visitors, families, photography, and those looking to experience a slot canyon environment without technical obstacles or long mileage.
Unlike many remote desert slot canyons, Jenny’s Canyon is accessed by a maintained trail and is suitable for most skill levels.
Approach: From St. George, enter Snow Canyon State Park via Snow Canyon Parkway. Continue through the park to the signed Jenny’s Canyon Trailhead parking area. The maintained trail leads a short distance across sandy desert terrain before reaching the slot canyon entrance.
Route Description: Follow the easy trail from the parking area toward the sandstone canyon. The canyon quickly narrows into a short slot section with smooth red and orange sandstone walls, shaded corridors, and small alcoves.
A small alcove near the end of the canyon contains a historic inscription area often referred to as a “secret room.” The canyon terminates after a relatively short distance and is explored as an out and back route.
Water Conditions: Jenny’s Canyon is typically dry. Flash flooding remains possible during storms despite the short length and easy access.
Exit: Return the same way to the Jenny’s Canyon Trailhead.
Jenny’s Canyon provides one of the most accessible slot canyon experiences near St. George and serves as an excellent introduction to desert canyon environments for beginners and families.
