Overview: This is a fun loop with some small narrows. This canyon offers enough obstacles to make for an interesting hike yet easy enough for the high adventurer. Bring a small length of webbing just in case (50 ft). You may need it depending on skill level of your party. Dang Canyon offers a 40 ft exposed area rated 5.5 in climbing terms and offers more scrambling and chimneying areas. Ding is slightly easier. This is not the easiest place to lug along a dog, but if you know how to rappel your pets- by all means bring them along.
Approach:
From I-70 head south on Hwy 24 to Temple Mountain road. Take Temple Mountain Road to Goblin Valley Road, about 5 miles and turn left (south). Follow for about 6 miles just before the enterance to Goblin Valley State Park and take the paved road on the right (Wild Horse Road). Follow Wild Horse for about 5 miles past a prominent parking lot at Bell and Little Wild Horse Canyons. Continue past this lot another 1.25 miles along the wash. Ding and Dang are marked with a sign. Follow the wash north and west to the opening of Ding and just a bit further up canyon is Dang.
