Overview: This is a fun little jaunt right at the end of Chute Canyon. Crack offers a nice variety of narrow slots. This is a short canyon with only moderate scrambling that makes a nice, short day hike. In the months of June - August this will be a bit hot so bring plenty of water. Good tip in the hot sun: drench a bandana in water and wear it on your head. You may prefer to try this canyon toward midafternoon into the evening or early morning in the hottest months. You could do a loop up Chute but the heat may be a little much even for the avid canyoneer.
Approach:
From Hwy 24 head west on Temple Mountain Road. Turn left on Behind the Reef road. Drive to the end and park. The road turns into a wash you don’t need to off-road it. In fact if you've reached Chute Canyon you've gone just a bit too far. The Canyon is just south from your parked car.
