Overview: Zebra and Tunnel Slot Canyons are simply beautiful. Very dry and hot, it’s best to avoid the hottest part of summer when attempting these canyons (which is what I did in mid July- I just couldn’t hold enough water, or drench my bandanna enough). The Canyons are extremely short for the long walk, but worth every moment. The canyons are tight and require some climbing and scrambling techniques.

Approach: From Hwy 12 leaving Escalante, turn right onto Hole in the Rock Road. From the turn off drive 7.76 miles to the pull out on the left. A trail marks the path, but gets lost once you hit the wash. Following the wash north you’ll come to a much bigger wash. Zebra is off the left, Tunnel is off to the right. To get to Zebra follow the wash north and keep heading north even when the wash begins to veer left.
